An aesthetically literate Westwoodian with a lifelong engagement in the Arts.
Curricular Objectives
The Arts is integral to the holistic development of our children. It contributes to their development of an understanding of the physical, emotional, intellectual, aesthetic, social, moral and spiritual dimensions of human experience. The Westwood Primary Aesthetics education is aimed at providing pupils with a holistic Visual and Performing Arts experience through the formal Art and Music curriculum, school-based programmes and Visual and Performing Arts co-curricular activities.
Through Aesthetics education, we aim to cultivate in our pupils, an enjoyment of and appreciation for the Arts by igniting their passion. We firmly believe that through Art, pupils can develop their 21CC and attain the THRIVE outcomes that will better prepare them to take on future challenges and opportunities, as well as understand the Arts as a way of learning about themselves and the world around them. For our budding artists, ample opportunities are presented to nurture their talents and pursue their love for the Arts, to express themselves creatively to communicate with others.
